Panoramica
The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Lima manages one of China's oldest and deepest bilateral relationships in Latin America. China is Peru's largest trading partner — the China-Peru Free Trade Agreement (2009) and its upgrade (2024) underpin a trade relationship dominated by Peruvian mineral exports (copper, zinc, lead, iron ore, gold) and Chinese imports of electronics, machinery and consumer goods. Peru has one of the largest Chinese-descent communities (tusán) in Latin America, tracing back to the nineteenth-century coolie labour migration. The consular section operates from a separate address at Calle Carlos Porras Osores 419, San Isidro.

Supporto Commerciale ed Esportazione
Peru exports copper, zinc, lead, iron ore, gold, fishmeal and agricultural products to China. The China-Peru FTA provides preferential tariff access. Chinese investment in Peruvian mining, port infrastructure (Chancay megaport) and energy is extensive and growing.
Programmi Culturali ed Educativi
The embassy supports the Confucius Institute network in Peru and Chinese language education. Peru's tusán (Chinese-descent) community — one of the largest in Latin America — maintains cultural traditions including chifa cuisine (Peruvian-Chinese fusion). Cultural exchange includes the Chinese Cultural Centre and academic scholarship programmes.
